"Hi Ville, you really have to try this. This is really fun"
I heard this a couple of years ago. I tried the DLG and got hooked. After all, nothing else helped than being a used DLG airplane.
In the same year, I participated in my first competition, and found this competition to be nice and instructive. Experienced pilots gave good advice and I learned a lot from following the flying of others.
The throwing technique still has a lot to improve, but sometimes I manage to spin to the heights :o)
The feeling when you find a lift and still somehow manage to stay in it so that the plane takes on more altitude is really awesome! Worries and stress disappear from the mind.
In my own squadron last summer, Auri DLG was the plane that I flew most. A small open area is sufficient for a flying field. It's easy when you even take the kids to football workouts, take the plane with you and go throwing it on a nearby field.
Feel free to try, be sure to warm up your muscles before you start throwing.. been there, done that... :o)
And yet a word of warning, you will bee hooked!
