Guillow´s Douglas DC-3 kit
Lentoliikenteen historian tärkeimpänä yksittäisenä lentokoneena pidetty DC-3 lensi ensimmäisen kerran vuonna 1935. Douglas Aircraft rakensi sen korvaamaan pienemmän DC-2. Sen 180 MPH matkalentonopeus teki siitä aikakautensa nopeimman, ja se kuljetti 11 matkustajaa enemmän kuin Boeing 247.
Vuoteen 1938 mennessä 80 prosenttia Amerikan kaupallisten lentoyhtiöiden liikenteestä kulki DC-3:illa. Toisen maailmansodan aikana, DC-3:n sotilaallisen muuntamisen aikana, C-47:ää käytettiin jokaisella sodan rintamalla. Sodan jälkeen monet ylimääräisistä C-47-koneista siirrettiin takaisin siviilipalvelukseen.

Considered to be the single most important aircraft in the history of air transportation, the DC-3 first flew in 1935.
Douglas Aircraft built it as a replacement for the smaller DC-2. It´s 180 MPH cruising speed made it the fastest of it´s day, and carried 11 more passengers than the Boeing 247.
By 1938, 80 precent of all American commercial airline traffic was carried on DC-3´s. During World War 2, the military conversion of the DC-3, the C-47 was used by the thousands in every theatre of the war. After the war, many of the surplus C-47´s were converted back to civilian service.
