  • The ancestor of this pedigree cat was a prototype of the twin-engine Navy fighter aircraft XF5F-1, which was never produced in series, but which brought the Grumman company valuable experience for further development. The aircraft taking off from land bases were intended to protect the US Marine Corps. The Grumman F7F 3 is a twin-engine, single-seat fighter aircraft in all-metal construction with foldable wing outer parts for stowing on aircraft carriers and retractable tripod landing gear. Two P&W R 2800 34W motors with an output of 1566kW served as drive units. The armament consisted of 4 machine guns of caliber 12.7 mm in the nose of the fuselage and 4 cannons of caliber 20 mm in the wings. The aircraft reached a top speed of 681 km / h at sea level and 719 km / h at an altitude of 6675 m. Today the last surviving machines are used by antique airplane enthusiasts on various flight days. After being sold by the US Marine Corps, some short-range machines were fitted with large tanks in the hull and are still used today for fire fighting.

The Tigercat model is designed for drive with brushless electric motors actro-n 28-3-1300 and a 3S LiPo battery. With this equipment the flight behavior of the Tigercat is realistic and the silhouette looks impressive in flight. Take-off and landings are problem-free. The model can also perform simple aerobatic maneuvers.

The model is designed in mixed construction. The fuselage and engine pods are made of GRP laminate, the wing and the horizontal stabilizer are made of balsa wood. The overall structure is supplemented by deep-drawn plastic parts, a transparent canopy, cockpit, engine nacelles and radial engine dummies. The flight batteries are inserted through the removable canopy. Because the real Tigercats were sprayed with shiny paint. Iron-on foil can be used to cover the wings. The model is controlled via ailerons, elevator and speed controller.

The model kit contains: detailed building instructions and construction plans, GRP fuselage, GRP engine nacelles, ready-to-use wing and horizontal stabilizer in balsa wood construction, deep-drawn parts such as transparent canopy, engine hoods, radial engine dummies, cockpit, punched parts made of plywood, small parts and decals.
